  • Standard: DIN 933 / ISO 4017.
  • Thread: Metric coarse thread, with thread tolerance class generally at 6g, and fine threads are also available.
  • Head Shape: Hexagonal head, with Class A and Class B head dimensions. For bolts with a nominal diameter ≤ M24, Class A applies to lengths ≤ 10d or ≤ 150mm (whichever is smaller). Class B applies to bolts with a nominal diameter > M24 or lengths > 10d or > 150mm (whichever is smaller).
  • Thread Length: Fully threaded from the head to the end.
  • Material: Typically made of medium carbon steel or alloy steel. Common performance grades include 8.8, 10.9, and 12.9. Grade 8.8 bolts have a minimum tensile strength of 800 MPa and a proof load of 640 MPa. Grade 10.9 bolts have a minimum tensile strength of 1000 MPa and a proof load of 900 MPa. Grade 12.9 bolts have a minimum tensile strength of 1200 MPa and a proof load of 1100 MPa.
  • Surface Treatment: Black oxide, achieved through an alkaline oxidizing process followed by oil sealing. The coating thickness is less than 1 µm, offering mild corrosion resistance and rust protection when oiled. It also provides excellent dimensional stability and avoids dimensional changes.
  • Nominal Diameter: Ranges from M3 to M52.
  • Length: Available in various lengths to meet different usage requirements. For example, ASMC Industrial offers M12 x 1.75 x 160 mm fully threaded coarse thread DIN 933 Class 8.8 hex cap screws.
  • Head Dimensions: For instance, for a nominal diameter of M12, the circumscribed circle diameter of the hex head is 17.0 mm, and the head height is 7.0 mm.
  • High Strength: With various performance grades, they can meet the strength requirements of different applications. Grade 8.8 and above are high-strength bolts, suitable for mechanical equipment, construction engineering, and other fields requiring high strength.
  • Good Corrosion Resistance: The black oxide layer provides some protection against corrosion, and when combined with oil sealing, it can effectively prevent rusting in general environments.
  • Excellent Dimensional Stability: The black oxide treatment does not significantly change the bolt dimensions, making it ideal for precision assemblies.
  • Good Appearance: The uniform matte black appearance is visually appealing and is often used in decorative hardware for consumer products.
