Recently, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced at the launch of the High-tech Incentive Program (HIT-30) in Istanbul that Turkey will launch a $30 billion incentive program, focusing on attracting investment in advanced technology sectors such as electric vehicles, battery production, semiconductor manufacturing and energy technology.
This includes grants of up to $8,000 /MW for solar cell investments and $1.7 billion for the production of wind energy modules to build a "domestic wind energy brand." "We will provide $2.5 billion in grant support for solar cell facilities, aiming to achieve 15GW of capacity, and we have allocated $1.7 billion for the manufacture of key components for wind energy," Erdogan said.
The establishment of research and development centers for large technology companies in Turkey is also part of the plan, Erdogan said: "We will bear half of the personnel costs of new research and development centers set up in our country by the world's top 1,000 companies for a period of five years, as the first step to take the HIT-30 program."
Erdogan said the government aims to attract at least $20 billion in private sector investment to Turkey, which he believes will greatly boost the country's development process.
