Recently, according to data from Turkey's Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, the increase in summer daylight hours has also been reflected in electricity generation. In June, Turkey's total electricity generation reached 30.35 billion kWh, setting a new historical high for the month of June.
During this period, electricity generated by Turkey's solar power plants reached 4.99 billion kWh, with solar energy accounting for 16.4% of total electricity generation.
In June, hydropower accounted for the largest share of electricity generation in Turkey. Hydropower generation reached 10.54 billion kWh, representing 34.7% of total electricity generation.
During the same period, renewable energy generation reached 20.65 billion kWh, while electricity generated from domestic resources reached 24.22 billion kWh, marking the highest monthly level since 2000.
In the first half of 2026, Turkey also saw significant growth in renewable energy generation.
Between January and June, Turkey's electricity mix included 57 billion kWh from hydropower, 21.5 billion kWh from wind power, 19.2 billion kWh from solar power, and 130.9 billion kWh from domestic resources, with total renewable energy electricity generation reaching 108.7 billion kWh.
