Trinidad and Tobago Piarco International Airport PV project officially handed over

On October 18, local time, the PV project of Piarco International Airport in Trinidad and Tobago was handed over smoothly.

The Piarco International Airport photovoltaic project is the first centralized photovoltaic power generation project in Trinidad and Tobago, with an installed capacity of 518.84 kilowatts, which was successfully connected to the grid on February 5, 2024, and entered the operation and maintenance phase on May 20 that year. When put into operation, the project will generate no less than 767,034 KWH of electricity per year, which will be able to meet about 4% of Piarco Airport's electricity demand and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 421,102 kg per year. The project is funded by the Global Climate Change Alliance and is the second new energy project of PowerChina in the English-speaking Caribbean region, reflecting the important measures of the Caribbean region to practice small and beautiful and develop new energy, which can not only provide clean energy for the airport, but also promote the sustainable development process of Trinidad and Tobago.

In the months leading up to the handover of the project, both teams worked closely together to conduct defect inspections and system training to ensure a smooth transition to operational maintenance. The handover has not only established a successful case for Trinidad and Tobago's photovoltaic power generation industry, but also further deepened the cooperative relationship between China and the Caribbean in the field of new energy, and demonstrated the company's professional strength in the field of new energy
