Recently, the Tibet Zabuye Integrated Energy Project, a global highest-altitude photothermal power station constructed by China Electric Power Engineering Co., Ltd. under EPC contract, has been fully operational. This project holds significant significance for the application of photothermal technology in high-altitude areas.
The Tibet Zabuye Integrated Energy Project is located in Zhongba County, Jiasharan City, Tibet. The site is at an altitude of 4,500 meters and is the world's first project to achieve isolated grid operation with a trough-type photothermal power station as the main power source in a high-altitude and grid-terminal area, providing 24-hour safe, stable and reliable comprehensive energy supply. It is a pioneering "Jewel Mountain" project undertaken by the EPC contract of Shandong Electric Power Construction Third Company of China Electric Power Engineering.
The project consists of power sources (photothermal + photovoltaic), loads (electricity and steam), energy storage (thermal storage + electrochemical energy storage), power transformation and distribution, and control systems, forming a thermal power and electricity integrated energy isolated grid system. It includes a 40-megawatt trough-type photothermal power station, a 35-megawatt photovoltaic power station, and 20 megawatts/40 megawatt-hours of electrical energy storage, which is in line with the national "14th Five-Year Plan" direction of new energy development and sustainable development policies.
After the project is put into operation, it will provide strong energy support for the development of lithium resources in the salt lake, achieving excellent environmental protection and economic benefits, and having significant importance for promoting the local economic and social development.
