On June 16, 2025, according to local media reports in Sierra Leone, Sierra Leone's healthcare system has added 2.3 megawatts of solar energy capacity: Sierra Leone officially launched the medical electrification project (Phase 3), installing solar power generation systems in 10 major hospitals. This marks an increase of 2.3 megawatts of solar energy capacity in Sierra Leone's healthcare system. With the support of the British government, the organization SEforALL (Sustainable Energy for All) collaborated with the Sierra Leone Ministry of Health and launched the medical electrification project in October 2022. The photovoltaic systems of the first phase, which covered 6 hospitals, were put into use in December 2023. The photovoltaic systems of the second phase, covering 25 hospitals, were put into use in March 2025. As of now, a total of 4.3 megawatts of solar power generation systems have been installed in 42 medical institutions.
