Recently, the No. 1 gas turbine of the 3,000-megawatt combined cycle power station project in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, which is the largest gas-fired self-owned power station project in Africa and is being constructed by our company, was successfully installed in place. This will help the project provide core support for local energy supply and greatly promote the economic and social development of the region.
The 3,000-megawatt gas-fired combined cycle power station project in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, is the largest gas-fired self-owned power station project in Africa. It is located in the Ibom Energy Free Trade Zone in Akwa Ibom State, southeastern Nigeria. The total installed capacity is 3,000 megawatts. The construction content includes the installation and commissioning of 12 gas turbines, 6 steam turbines, 12 waste heat boilers and related supporting facilities.
This project is an important component of Nigeria's national power reform and industrial zone energy autonomy strategy, and it is also a key support for Nigeria to break through the energy bottleneck and promote industrialization. After the project is completed and put into operation, it will not only provide stable power supply for local heavy industries such as petrochemicals and fertilizers, promoting the transformation of the local energy structure, but also significantly enhance the local power supply capacity, meeting the electricity demands of industries and residents in the free trade zone and reversing the long-term power shortage in the region. At the same time, the project will provide a replicable model for large-scale energy projects in West Africa, assist Nigeria in developing clean energy, and is of great significance for deepening energy cooperation between China and Nigeria.
