Recently, researchers from the University of Queensland in Australia have set a world record for solar cell efficiency by using environmentally friendly perovskite technology, with an efficiency of 16.65% in converting sunlight into electricity.
Professor Wang works at the Australian Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology and the School of Chemical Engineering at the University of Queensland. He said that the certified reading obtained by his laboratory is nearly one percentage point higher than the previous highest record of tin halide perovskite solar cells, and this reading is consistent with that of many silicon-based solar cells currently on the market. But it is possible to be manufactured cheaper and faster.
Members of its research team stated that tin halide perovskite solar cells have huge commercial potential because the production of perovskite devices is more sustainable than that of silicon-based solar cells.
