Recently, the Israeli renewable energy company Nofar Energy received a 68 million euro loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to fund three large-scale photovoltaic projects in Romania, with a total capacity of 515 megawatts, including the 265.5 megawatt Corbii Mari solar park.
The expected approval date for the loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development is September 10, 2025. The loan will be disbursed to three Romanian subsidiaries of Nofar - Corbii Mari Solar Power Plant, Aviv Renewable Energy Investment, and Slobozia Solar Power Plant.
According to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Nofar's company plans to build a 175.7-megawatt solar power plant in Iepureşti, a 74-megawatt solar power plant in Slobozia of Jolugiu County, and a 265.5-megawatt solar power plant in Corbii Mari of Danbovica County.
These three solar energy parks are expected to generate 676 gigawatt-hours of electricity annually. The bank noted that the operation of these parks is projected to reduce 280,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually.
The Corbii Mari Solar Park covers a total area of 290 hectares and will be located near the capital of Romania, Bucharest. According to local media reports, due to its size, the project has been divided into six plots.
Nofar operates the largest existing photovoltaic park in Romania, with a generating capacity of 155 megawatts, located in Rătșițe, Algeshi County.
