Poland, leading the rise of battery energy storage in Eastern Europe!
(PV-Tech News) Poland is expected to lead Eastern Europe in battery storage deployment. At present, 9GW of battery energy storage projects in Poland have been connected to the grid. In addition, there are 16GW battery storage projects registered to participate in the ongoing capacity market tender.
Eastern Europe has been lagging behind other regions in battery storage development, but this will change. Driven by the downward cost of renewables, the closure of coal-fired power stations and the need to quickly find alternatives to Russian gas, the accelerated installation of intermittent power generation units will lead to a rapid transformation of the electricity market.
