Recently, JinkoSolar is launching a solar module recycling program in Washington State. The plan, named "EAGLE Reserve", is the first such management project to be approved by the ecological department of Washington State.
Washington State law requires solar manufacturers selling products within the state to formulate and implement management plans for end-of-life photovoltaic modules.
Nigel Cockroft, the general manager of JinkoSolar (USA) Co., LTD., said, "JinkoSolar is honored to have received the approval of the EAGLE Preserve management program in Washington State." Jinkosolar attaches great importance to compliance. Our original intention in formulating the EAGLE Preserve program was to serve the Washington market effectively and responsibly and strictly abide by state laws.
The EAGLE Preserve management plan will be launched on July 1st this year. At that time, other manufacturers can also join the program and provide the same services to their customers.
EAGLE Preserve is a proprietary recycling and reuse program for decommissioned solar cell modules at the sites of commercial and industrial (C&I) and utility projects registered in the management plan.
Why Washington? The law of Washington State requires solar manufacturers selling products within the state to formulate and implement a management plan for the recycling of end-of-life components (project owners do not bear any costs), and this law has been in effect for nearly ten years (RCW 70A.510.010).
During this period, the state of Washington once again confirmed its policy on the scrapping requirements for solar modules. The management plan approved by the state government must ensure that the recycling and reuse of components are convenient, safe and environmentally friendly. The manufacturer's plan and/or the plan it joins must cover all components sold to Washington State after July 1, 2017.
As of March 31, 2025, JinkoSolar has 10 production bases worldwide and over 20 overseas subsidiaries in countries such as Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, India, Turkey, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, the United States, and Mexico. It has sales teams in China, the United States, Canada, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Italy, Germany, Turkey, Spain, Japan, the United Arab Emirates, the Netherlands, Vietnam and India, and has established a global sales network.
