China National Offshore Oil Corporation: The first phase of the 10-2 Oilfield Cluster in the Kenli area, a billion-ton oilfield, has been fully operational.

On May 27th, the first phase of the 10-2 Oilfield Cluster in the Bohai Sea, a billion-ton oilfield in China, was fully put into operation. The daily output of crude oil from this oilfield exceeded 2,800 tons. The 10-2 Oilfield is located in the southern part of the Bohai Sea and has a proven geological reserve of over 100 million tons. It is the largest shallow rock-type oilfield in China's offshore area. The first-phase development project includes the construction of one central processing platform and two unmanned wellhead platforms, and a total of 79 development wells will be implemented.

The Kelin 10-2 oilfield is a branched thick oil reservoir. The oil and gas are stored in narrow, long and curved sand bodies, and different sand bodies interweave with each other, resembling the shadows of branches on the ground presenting a "branching" pattern. Its reserve distribution has the characteristics of "scattered, narrow, thin and diverse". The reservoir type and development method combination of "branching + hot oil recovery" in this oilfield is the first time to be developed in the Bohai Sea area and there are no mature experiences to follow. At the same time, the drilling and completion operations of the Kelin 10-2 oilfield have the "three-dominant" difficulties of multiple well types, multiple formation systems and multiple development methods.

In response to this, the project team adopted the "one sand one reservoir one well pattern" strategy and implemented the "one well one plan" approach. In terms of drilling, the project team divided well types, refined operation plans, optimized and upgraded technical measures, and focused on safe drilling and scientific acceleration; in terms of well completion, the project team based on the geological characteristics of the branched oil reservoirs, carried out differentiated well completion process design "tailored to the specific situation", and systematically advanced the iteration and integration application of well completion technology; in terms of heat injection, engineering technicians from multiple specialties collaborated to ensure the safety, stability, and orderly progress of the heat injection operations for 24 wells, achieving a successful start-up of the pump for the first time.

During the oilfield development process, the Tianjin Company has established an "integrated" development model for billion-ton-sized oilfields, ensuring that production is achieved immediately after well completion and that the wells are monetized immediately after being handed over. Focusing on detailed reservoir description and well location optimization, the Bohai Petroleum Research Institute has innovatively formed key technologies for the detailed description of complex heavy oil reservoirs, significantly improving the accuracy of thin-layer identification; adopting a joint development method of "conventional water injection + steam flooding + steam drive", it ensures the efficient and balanced utilization of reserves. After the thermal recovery wells in the oilfield were put into production successively, the Bohan Operation Company introduced the wellbore liquid level monitoring technology, effectively monitoring the formation pressure, providing data support for reservoir analysis and operation handling, and enhancing the refined management level of thermal recovery development.

At present, the 33 cold production wells and 24 hot production wells designed for the Kenli 10-2 oilfield have all successfully completed the pump-starting operations. This marks the completion and commissioning of the first-phase development project of this oilfield, providing a technical solution that can be learned from and promoted for the effective development of similar reservoirs. It will also strongly support the continuous stable and increased production of the Bohai Oilfield, which is the largest crude oil production base in China.
