The new PV installed capacity in the UK is expected to reach 1.7GW in 2023

According to a new research report released by a PV market research team in the UK, the UK PV industry will add 1.7GW of PV systems in 2023 and continue to grow rapidly after the end of subsidies provided by the government, including feed-in tariffs (FiT) and renewable Obligation certificates (ROC).

Since the end of these subsidies in 2018, the UK PV market has continued to grow every year.

As predicted by the research team over the past few years, the growth in installed capacity as investors break ground on PV projects comes mainly from large PV plants, which have a significant impact on the contribution of PV systems in the UK's overall energy mix.

The UK's new PV system installed capacity in 2023 will be announced in a few months. The error range of the 1.7GW data currently quoted is -5% to +10%. Its growth is conditional on the completion of several large PV plants (50MW +) this year, some of which may be delayed until 2024.

The UK will add 1.7GW of PV systems in 2023, a 33% increase compared to the same period in 2022, with residential PV and ground-mounted PV plants driving the main part of its installed capacity growth. The UK residential PV market has grown rapidly following the introduction of the feed-in tariff (fit) in 2010, when the price was 43p /kwh.
