The Italian prime minister said he would provide 90 million euros for Enel's 3GW plant

On February 3, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said that Italy will invest in Enel (Italian State electricity company) to build a new photovoltaic plant in Sicily to help it increase production capacity, which is planned to become the main production base of solar panels in Europe. Italy's NRRP program will provide 90 million euros ($97 million) in funding for the plant. As previously reported, Enel announced in November 2022 that it would operate the plant through the company's 3Sun USA company, with an initial capacity expected to be 3GW.
