Indonesia said on Monday it had cut the minimum local investment requirement for solar power plants to 20 per cent from around 40 per cent previously, as it seeks to attract investment in projects with at least half of the funding coming from foreign multilateral or bilateral lenders. The new rules allow solar power plant projects to use imported panels until June 2025, provided the project operator obtains ministerial approval to sign a power purchase agreement by the end of 2024 and the plant becomes operational in the first half of 2026.
