Egypt's largest integrated optical storage power plant starts construction

On December 14, local time, the groundbreaking ceremony of the 1GW PV +600MWh energy storage project, the largest integrated light storage power station in Egypt built by the general contract of China Can Construction, and the grid-connected start-up ceremony of 500MW PV power station in Kang Weng Bo were held at the same time. Egyptian Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouly attended and delivered a speech.

Madbouly congratulated on the start of the project and thanked China for its outstanding contribution to the green and sustainable development of Egypt. He said the project is an important part of Egypt's clean Energy Action Plan to promote sustainable environmental and economic development. It is hoped that China can build and other outstanding enterprises, give full play to their own advantages, continue to increase investment and construction in Egypt, further improve the quality and efficiency of Egypt's electricity supply, and help Egypt accelerate the realization of Vision 2030.

Prime Minister Madbouli was briefed on the 500MW PV project in Kang Ongbo

Egypt Benban light storage hybrid Power station is an independent power station project invested and developed by AMEA Power, located in Benban region in southern Egypt, is the completed Kang Wengbo 500MW photovoltaic project phase II expansion project, including 1GW photovoltaic and supporting 600MWh energy storage design, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning and operation and maintenance, the total amount of about 600 million US dollars. The contract period is 17 months. The project will provide more than 7,000 jobs during the construction process, generate about 3,000 GWH of electricity per year after completion, meet the electricity needs of 500,000 households, reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 1.56 million tons, and further improve the proportion of renewable energy in Egypt and the stability of the power grid. At the end of November this year, the joint venture composed of China Energy Construction International Group, Zhejiang Thermal Power and Southwest Institute successfully signed the EPC general contract of the project through open bidding.

Mahmoud Ismat, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy; Hera Saeed, Minister of Planning and Economic Development; Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources; Rania Masat, Minister of Investment and International Cooperation; Zhang Tao, Minister of the Chinese Embassy in Egypt; Zhao Liu Qing, Minister Counsellor; Hussein Noves, Chairman of the Board of Directors of AMEA Power; The head of China Energy Construction International Group, the World Bank IFC, Japan JICA, the Netherlands Corporate Development Bank FMO and other relevant heads of financial institutions attended the groundbreaking ceremony.

Egypt is an important strategic market for China to build overseas. China Energy Construction will coordinate superior resources, further enhance the ability of the performance team, complete the project cooperation on time and with quality, and create a global green benchmark project. At the same time, the two sides should give full play to their strengths in planning and design, deepen cooperation in personnel training, extensively participate in the investment and construction of photovoltaic, wind power, energy storage, hydrogen and gas turbine projects in Egypt, promote the adjustment of Egypt's electricity structure, play an active role in realizing Egypt's Vision 2030, and push the China-Egypt comprehensive strategic partnership to a new level.
