A handover ceremony was held for the China-assisted photovoltaic power plant equipment project in Cuba

On June 7, the handover ceremony of China-assisted 12 MW solar photovoltaic power plant equipment project was held in Santo Domingo, central Cuba. Cuban Revolutionary Commander and Vice Prime Minister Valdes, Chinese Ambassador to Cuba Ma Hui and other representatives of the Cuban government and enterprises attended the handover ceremony.

Cuban Vice Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment Rivas, who attended the ceremony, thanked China for its assistance and the hard work of the Chinese builders on behalf of the Cuban government. In her speech, she said that the project is of great significance to Cuba's national economy and people at a time when Cuba's energy development is facing a complex situation.

Ma Hui said in his speech that this project is one of the important achievements of practical cooperation between China and Cuba under the framework of jointly building the Belt and Road. China will continue to provide assistance to the best of its ability for Cuba to promote energy development, further boost economic growth and ensure national energy security, and promote mutual benefit and common development of China-Cuba energy cooperation.

According to reports, the project officially launched at the beginning of this year. The three solar PV plants in the project, each with an installed capacity of 4 MW, are located in the provinces of Segode Avila, Holguin and Villacara, Cuba. At present, the three power stations have been fully connected to the grid, with a total daily electricity generation of about 60,000 KWH, which is expected to benefit 25,000 households across Cuba.
