According to data released by Latvia's transmission system operator Augstsprieguma tīkls (AST), solar power became the largest source of electricity generation in Latvia for the third consecutive month in July, with generation reaching 235 GWh.
Total electricity generation last month reached 426 GWh, of which solar power accounted for 55%. Hydropower remained the second largest source of generation, accounting for approximately 28% of the total in July.
Last month, Latvia's total electricity consumption reached 586 GWh, with local generation covering 72.65% of total consumption, while the remaining 159 GWh were imported from neighboring countries.
According to the latest data from AST, Latvia's installed solar power capacity has now exceeded 1.8 GW.
